I recently installed the Govee 6-inch recessed lights in my home, and I am absolutely blown away by them. The entire experience, from unboxing to the final setup, was incredibly straightforward.
The installation process was far simpler than I anticipated. The lights are designed with a snap-in connector, which meant I didn't have to deal with any complicated wiring. I simply connected the provided wire nuts to my existing wiring, then plugged the light fixture directly into the junction box. The entire process for each light took me less than ten minutes. The lights also come with strong spring clips that hold them securely in the ceiling without any wobbling.
Once the lights were in, the real fun began. The Govee app makes controlling the lights effortless. I can easily adjust the brightness, color temperature, and choose from a seemingly endless array of colors. The lights are also incredibly vibrant and can be dimmed to a very low level without any flickering, which is perfect for creating a cozy atmosphere. I also love the different dynamic scene modes that cycle through colors, making it easy to set the mood for a party or just add a little excitement to a room.
Overall, I can't recommend these lights enough. If you're looking for a simple, effective, and feature-rich way to upgrade your home's lighting, these Govee recessed lights are the perfect solution.

I was looking at the local hardware stores for some recessed lighting options, and everything was just so mundane and boring. Then I thought about Govee and all the other Govee LEDs I already had at home and wondered if they had any recessed lighting options, and they sure did. And actually the same or slightly cheaper than the ones at the store. And obviously being Govee, I knew they would have a lot more flexibility and options.
The install was easy, they give you everything you need, even push in wire connectors, although I used my own Wago connectors.
I bought a 6 + 3/8” recessed lighting hole saw kit for the ceiling, and while it did work, I would say that you should probably just use a 6” one because the one that I used made the holes a bit too big and the Govee lights barely cover the whole thing.
Of course the Govee app is great. The brightness is good if you use the illumination mode, and you can choose the Kelvin of the white. Also never had any issues using Google Voice commands with Govee products either.
Overall, a great idea for recessed lighting if you’re bored of the same old stuff from your local hardware store.

Installed eight of these in my living room and they’re a huge improvement over the single lamp I had before. Easy to install, easy to setup. I have not done a ceiling install prior to this one. Colors are good, run them as white primarily.

Lights work great and on high setting are very bright. I was concerned that some reviews said the lights are not the color whenever they are turned off then on, but tp fix this, when connecting the lights create a group for the lights you want to be the same and they will all remain the same color as long as they are in the same group. They will even synced to whatever them you choose. Pretty cool.

Edit: I have added a star as I got a replacement through Govee customer service .
I noticed one more thing: there is no cUL or cETL marking on the driver or light.
Please take a look at the photos to assess the quality of the electrical box. It appears that the knock-out hole cannot be removed. Additionally, the lamp's body is quite thick, even thicker than drywall, measuring approximately 3/4". The wires are too short, one inch longer would make installation easier.
However, the most concerning issue is its functionality:
There is a noticeable 3-4 second delay from the moment you turn the switch on until the light actually comes on. This delay is quite frustrating.
Grouping the lights doesn't seem to work as expected. Although you can group them, changing their configuration all at once is a slow process. Even when using preset modes, it takes about 30 seconds for all 8 lights to adjust to the selected configuration.
These lights lack microphones, and they require a sync box or Lyra lamp that can control 5-7 lights simultaneously.
I've been a satisfied owner of several other Govee products in the past, but unfortunately, these lights don't meet the same standards. Perhaps a future software update could improve their performance, but currently, I'm struggling to see the value in this product.
Update , customer support sent me a replacement.

The control through Govee app is sluggish but much faster once you use a sync the box ( Govee music sync box) . Remember one of sync box control 7 devices . In my setup I have 3 rows of 5 lights and I use 3 boxes , I setup up on sync box for each row and the effect is very nice . Lights are not sluggish under the sync box control , it takes a while for the box to take control of them – maybe 15-20 sec ! but once they are under the sync box control the lights are really dynamic I will try to upload a video .
Based on the functionality under the sync box I have added one more star.
