WHOA!! Thinking of buying this? Buy now & read later!!
Whoa!! This thing, for the price, reminds me of my old Bose's I had as a kid growing up, One of the first with noise cancelling, which is why I bought the silver version of this one, This Q20 I recieved comes with USB-C charging port (which is the updated 2024/2025 version), comes with headphone wires that work exceptionally well, and a USB-C cable that's too short to even consider using that I usually see as e-waste, but the gesture was nice nonetheless! Also comes with a manual which is very useful for getting to know the headset! I highly recommend getting the app as it lets you switch modes between Noise Cancelling, Normal & Open ANC (which lets you hear the outside noises clearly, for example if someone was speaking to you or around you, you can listen in more clearly), but the buttons on the headphones also let you switch between these modes but you gotta get used to the jingles and what each one means when it's changing the modes for you! While it's true that the bass sounds way better in normal mode, it still has a nice kick to it while using Noise Cancelling. The headset itself is super light, very comfortable to wear, ear-cups feel just right, and I absolutely love the silver color I chose. But here's a bit of my personal experience with the headset.. I bought this specifically for my month long trip to Europe this summer.. My flight total time was about 16 hours, and I used the headset for the majority of the flight, even while sleeping! It was very comfortable the entire flight, and the noise cancelling truly surprised me, I could barely hear a peep out of them! I would turn the noise cancelling off every so often out of curiosity, and suddenly noises from all different ranges would fill my ears again such as babies crying, people having conversations, utensil noises, coughs, and every noise you can think of in an airplane cabin, all of these sounds were cancelled out with the noise cancelling! They really did do their research like they said they did!! But I haven't even gotten to the best part yet.. Battery life!! I charged it to 90% before my flight, and using it the entire time during my flight, with noise cancelling on, and volume ranging from low during few hours of sleep to medium-high while awake, the battery did not go below 80%!! That's 15 hours or so with just a 10% drop in battery! AMAZING! I would so buy this again & have been recommending it to friends & family alike! Only issue I've had so far which is truly minor is the headband came with a small ingrained scratch, but I immediately overlooked the aesthetic side of it after putting the headset on the first time & testing it out;) if you can overlook it being made of plastic material, the rest will blow your mind, ranging from the sounds to just how durable it feels! I'm sure this will outlast my expectations of longevity as well!

Thank you for your feedback

The Soundcore Anker Life Q20 headphones have impressed me with their sound quality and noise cancellation. They are slightly tighter than my Bose headphones, but surprisingly still very comfortable for long listening sessions. The battery life is excellent, and the build feels solid. I've bought two for my kids for a fraction of the cost of my bose, but I find myself using them more now. Overall, a fantastic value for anyone looking for quality headphones without breaking the bank.

These headphones are totally worth buying! I am going to buy another pair just to have them on hand because I like them and am so impressed by the quality of the sound, the fit and comfort of them them, as well as the noise canceling feature. They are super easy to set up the Bluetooth connection. The controls are much more user friendly than other headphones I have had, so that is a plus.

I have been burdened with extremely loud construction outside and inside of my apt building. They are working on the bridge outside and cutting and moving all materials outside my window for the 2 floors above me that they are still being worked on in what was an old cotton mill. I have been really struggling since April. But these have saved my sanity! 💖 I can finally enjoy my new apt without listening to construction noise from 6 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. M-F. They honestly work really well and you cannot beat the cost!!! I cannot afford the leading brands, so these are the best alternative to those. I highly recommend them. I don't think you will be disappointed. 😁

Normally, Anker products are really good, but these are dissapointing.

If these where just headphones, they would be fine, they are comfortable, sound good (not audiophile good, but good enough), look kinda good (if a tad cluncky). But these are supposed to be noise cancelling headphones. And they do not cancel noise at all.

The only discernible effect when you enable noise cancelling is that the headphones pump up the volume of what you are listening, but, once you compensate for that, the external sound dampening you get is the same that you would get by just the cushions of the headphones.

Mind you, I tested with a punny Nokia E71 playing TMBG's Call_connected_through_the_NSA.mp3 not some hollywood explosion fest. I do not want "world around dissapears" kinds of Noise Cancelling, but if these can't cancel a punny E71… Well, disappointed/dissapointing

    Edit #1:
The reason I hold Anker in high regard, I because of their customer service, and this is no exception. I posted the review in about July 18, 2020, and today July 21, 2020 they contacted me. At least we know they still have top notch customer support, even during a pandemic.

Nonetheless, their sugestions were not very usefull:

«- Make sure the NC button is turned on(the NC indicator would turn green) when you want them to cancel noise outside.»
Yes, I know very well how to press the button to get the green light, and also, a very nice lady voice says "Noice Cancelling", so yes, I was 110% (one hundred and ten percent) sure noice cancelling was active.

«- Try the headphones in different noisy places with NC on and off and see any difference.»
Well, we are under lockdown. When I am able to move out, I have more important thing to do than test noise cancelling headphones. Nonetheless, I'll try to do it and report back to Anker Customer Support, and to you guys. I'll also try to get the 10 min silent MP3s from Samir Mezrahito really test this out.

    Edit #2:

I was "finally" able to actuate on Anker product support's sugestion and "- Try the headphones in different noisy places with NC on and off and see any difference.".

For testing purposes I used the headphones in BlueThooth mode (to eliminate any electrical intereference noise). And used the song "A a a a a a a a a Very good song" by artist Samir Mezrahi, which, as you perhaps know, consists of almost 10 min of silence.

    I tested in various scenarios:
1.) In my car, windows down.
2.) In my car windows up.
3.) Reving up my car to 2500rpm (in the parking lot).
4.) In a bus stop (with buses comming in and out).
5.) In the electric stairs of a ghostly empty shopping mall.
6.) In a queue to pay for medicines (with ambient music and people talking at moderate volume).
7.) Near the air extractor of my home kitchen.

    My results:
1.) If wind blows in the headphones you actually get MUCH MORE noise with NC on than with NC off, so forget using the noise cancelling in a ferry boat, or in a bus with no Air conditioning, or in your car with windows/roof open, or in your bike.
2.) The NC was able to diminish humming noises (like the engine), but not clacking noises, or noises derived from potholes and such.
3.) The NC was very effective at mitiganting the reeving.
4.) The engine noise from the buses was mitigated, but not the clacking or the chatter from the people waiting.
5.) Again, the humm of the motor of the staris was mitigated, but not the clacking noises.
6.) In the queue, the souund of the air conditioner or the store was somewhat mitigated by the NC, but not the ambient music or the chatter, and that actually ended up being worse, because it made more noticeable the music and chatter.
7.) The NC was decent with the air extractor of my kitchen.

But, in scenarios 5, 6 & 7, I noticed that the NC tends to cancel the low frequencies, but the high ones are not mitigated at all (currently at my 47yo, i can hear up to 15Khz, so for younger peiople is probably worse), so, actually enabling NC will make any high pitch noice more noticeable (i.e. the frequency responce of the NC is not flat).

Finally, if one bought these headphones with NC because the noise made by rain, the AC fan or compressor, or some other noise like that was disturbing, it it will diminish it a little (but not much), but if one bought noise cancelling headphones because one wanted to evade the sound of coworkers talking, or kids playing in the garden or your SO watching TV in the other room, these headphones will do nothing more than what headphones with no NC (and therefore less expensive) would have.

    Edit #3 (and Final):

Anker contacted me, and offered two options, return the item (as a very special consideration, since I am a few MONTHS completely outside of the return window), or get a refund for 20% of the cost, to get a more suitable Item. Since I order to the USoA and then have my Items forwarded to Venezuela, it is a hassle to return Items, so I opted for the refund, and it went smoothly.

That is the good thing of going with Anker. The litmus test of a good company comes when things go wrong, and Anker has a stellar reputation for making things right. Upgraded the review from one star to 4, but not on the account of the product itself, but rahter, due to the excellent customer service.

Got the Soundcore Anker Life Q20 for daily commutes and background office work, and honestly — it punches far above its price. The sound hits crisp and full, with bass that has real kick when you double-tap the play button. The hybrid noise cancelling does a surprisingly good job muting road noise and chatter, so I could actually focus while working or relaxing on flights. Memory-foam earcups make long listening sessions comfortable — I forgot I had them on until someone spoke to me. Battery life is a beast: one charge lasts forever (great for travel or long workdays).

If you want a dependable, no-frills set of headphones that deliver quality sound, comfort, and endurance without emptying your wallet — these are worth it.

    Fantastische Kopfhörer Q20 🙂

Reviewed in Germany on October 7, 2023

    Style: MicroColor: BlackVerified Purchase

    Fazit:
Also wie gesagt, absolut Top

I have been using it for a week now. I simply put it on, play my podcast and walk. Noise cancellation is excellent, and people can hear me clear when I speak on the phone outdoors. I noticed one issue (which probably not unique to Anker Soundcore Life Q20) though. The wind filters in through the microphones, but I never had to turn the volume up. In general I'm super happy with my purchase considering the low price.

Peu être le meilleur casque avec ANC….

Reviewed in France on August 16, 2020

    EXCELLENT 👌🏻

Excellent value and outstanding customer service

*Update: customer service experience added to end of review*

These headphones sit at the top end of the budget price range and they are better quality than most at this budget level. The build quality is good, the connectivity is simple (I have connected them to an iPad and a MacBook) and the sound quality is decent.

The battery lasts a long time between charges (the spoken voice will give you an indication when you connect) with the claimed 60 hours seems plausible to me although it's probably less with noise cancelling on. The noise cancelling is effective and I have used these headphones in a busy office to good effect.

Noise cancelling is on by default when you connect which at first I didn't like (I prefer it to be off until I specifically want to use it) but this bothers me much less these days and I tend to just keep it on. The headphones are also pretty comfortable and easy to collapse for transportation.

Overall it's hard to fault these headphones at the price and if you can grab them at around the £40 price point they are a steal.

*Update: After about 14 months the part of the band that attached to the left earpiece snapped as I was taking the headphones off. I was expecting to have to buy some new headphones from another brand but before I did I thought I'd reach out to Anker Customer Support to see if they might help and they replied to my e-mail within half-an-hour offering to send me a replacement. First class customer support I wasn't expecting.
